#ICYMI Thornsmouth gets its name from the blackthorn crops traditionally grown in the area for centuries, both for fine hedges and as the main ingredient in sloe gin, which is macerated over months to produce the sweet liquor by the barrelful. On the founder's map, this area is labeled with an illustration of a palm pressed against a forehead. #Founder'sMap
Have you heard the good news? Christmouth Church has survived the lockdown without taking on any serious damage or unwelcome new visitors! In the place where it's currently stood for over 400 years, on the #Founder'sMap is written an ancient word, 'shgoth', which translates roughly to 'man'! Gardening is next to holiness!

Blackthorn's Close has always been a wonderful place for a walk, but in the time of our town's founders, it was truly a place for calm peaceful reflection among the trees and shrubs. On the #Founder'sMap, this is area was one named with an ancient word, 'mgeheheb'thk', which experts at the Gardening Society have translated to 'destory'. Stunning!
In the wake of a serious disaster, the Thornsmouth Gardening Society has returned. To become a member, head in to our offices near the center of town and sign up today. On the #Founder'sMap, this area is labelled with an illustration of "standing still in silence", so be ready for a queue!
